We are extremely thankful to the IASIU Orlando Chapter for inviting us to co-host this event. It also would not have been possible without the Sanford Fire Department or our sponsors! Stephen Dollar receives Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (CVFI) Certification

Last week, from September 18th-21st, our Fire Investigator, Stephen Dollar had the privilege of attending the NAFI-Sponsored CVFI Course in Lexington, Kentucky. This 36-hour course increased their knowledge and skills for investigating fires and explosions in motor vehicles. We are proud to share their success in completing this certification!
Kevin Hays – Guest Speaker at FACAP’s August Meeting
On 8/24/2017 In Tampa, hosted by Homeowners Choice Property & Casualty Insurance, the FACAP Board held their August Meeting and Kevin had the opportunity to be the Guest Speaker. Two hours of optional Continuing Education Credits were offered for the class titled: Fires Involving Gas Systems and CSST.
Kevin B. Hays Fire Consulting’s Presentation at Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig, LLP
After being invited to speak at Butler’s legal office, Kevin had the pleasure of visiting the office in Downtown Tampa on June 15, 2017, where he educated some of the firm on basic fire investigations. A big thank you to their office for making this happen!
Continuing Education Course at KHFC Lab Facility: Residential Structure Fire Investigations
On 05/25/2017, KHFC hosted a Continuing Education Course on Residential Structure Fire Investigations for Security First Insurance Company. Kevin shared his presentation on this topic, while Stephen Dollar assisted with demonstrating the different scenarios. We anticipate offering many more classes like this in the future.
KHFC Welcomes Keli Langley and Sky Santos to the Administrative Team!
We are delighted to report our two newest members of the team: Keli Langley, joining on February 7, 2017, is our new Administrative Assistant, and Sky Santos, joining just a month later on March 6, 2017, has been appointed Business Relations Manager. We look forward to the continuing expansion of our team!

Our team had a great time on and off the water at Salt Springs. The trip included night-time bow fishing, grilling steaks, and having loads of fun!

TOPIC: Examining Fire Scenes Involving Lithium Ion Batteries and Their Potential for Electrical Fire Causations
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE: This course is designed to examine multiple different lithium ion battery ignition sources and their competency to ignite resulting in a fire. For the purpose of this course different styles of lithium batteries will be discussed along with their operational designs. The course will cover investigating fire scenes involving suspected lithium battery failures while utilizing the current industry guides and standards. Analytical evaluation of the physical evidence will be discussed to provide an understanding of failure modes and the challenges presented during post fire examinations. The course is presented utilizing power point slides, video clips, test examples and case studies.
